Chesapeake Beach is a small town on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay. It is about 20 miles
south of Annapolis and 35 miles southeast of Washington. Shopping in Chesapeake Beach is about antiques.
Also obviously available are items relating to Chesapeake Bay. There is clothing for the beach or
boat. Finally some excellent local art can be admired and purchased. By the way, there is a great
little waterpark in Chesapeake Beach. Finally if you come to Chesapeake Beach you don't want to miss
North Beach just up the road a bit.

Randle Cliff

Randle Cliff is located on the Western shore of the Chesapeake Bay, just South of Chesapeake Beach
in Calvert County. The bayside cliffs in Calvert County are considered among the world's richest fossil areas. According to
the National Park Service,
Captain John Smith probably anchored near Randle Cliff on June 11, 1608. Maryland Route 261, Bayside Road, runs north and
south just a bit inland of the Randle Cliff shoreline. There is a
Bluebird Trail
located near Randle Cliff. The beach at Randle Cliff is called Brownies Beach. Officially it's called Bay Front Park.
Randle Cliff is home to the
Naval Research Laboratory Chesapeake Beach.
BGE, the electric company, has a substation at the Naval Research Laboratory.
The Randle Cliff area is served by the
North Beach Fire Department as well as by the fire
department from the Naval Research Laboratory.
